Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a process that is undertaken to reach the subconscious mind. Behavioural patterns are built on the associations we have made from our thoughts to our emotions and vice versa.

A thought can trigger an emotion but also an emotion can trigger a thought. Through Hypnosis we can access these patterns of behaviour that are held within the subconscious mind. By doing so we can work with the Client to bring about a positive response and change to these often negative and limiting patterns.

The hypnotic state (sometimes referred to as the 'trance' or 'altered' state) is a naturally occurring state of deep relaxation, examples of which can be found in our everyday lives such as daydreaming or when you are completely absorbed in a book or TV show.

There are many misconceptions or myths that surround the process of Hypnosis and also the Hypnotherapists themselves. However, these can be dispelled with the following truths:

  • Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is not mind control. The Client is always in control of the hypnotic state and can end it at any time, simply by opening their eyes.
  • It is not possible to get stuck in hypnosis.
  • The Client cannot be made to do anything against their morals or beliefs.
  • The depth of the hypnotic state will vary with each person but everyone who wants to be hypnotised can be hypnotised.
